COURSE DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES     Spanish I concentrate on developing the basic skills in Spanish. Such as  listening,
reading,  speaking  and  writing  in  Spanish  as  well  as an appreciation of the Spanish culture.  Emphasis is placed on 
acquisition of vocabulary, structures and grammatical  patters  necessary  for  comprehension of native spoken and writing 
Spanish, and to give the students the opportunity to write short compositions and dialogues as well as oral presentations.

COURSE CONTENT     Spanish I will cover lessons Preliminary through 5. Major structures presented include the present, 
past, and future tenses.

CLASS PROCEDURE     It  is  expected  that  students  will come prepared for class activities by having read all materials 
previously  at  home  and  completed  all  written  assignments.   Class time will be devoted to practice, application and 
production  of  language.   There  will  be oral and written practice in class and as all foreign language courses a total 
immersion in the target language shall be expected.

CLASS ATTENDANCE     Attendance  is  mandatory.   However,  because  unforeseen  emergencies  may  occur, (2) absences are 
allowed  during  the  semester.   Excess of three absences will adversely affect your course grade, as will arrive late or 
leaving early.  Arrange with a  classmate  to  provide you with homework information and handouts when not in class. Also, 
make sure all electronic devices such as cellular phones, MP3 are in the silent mode or off during class sessions.

FINAL EXAM SCHEDULE:  Final examination will be held on Wednesday, May 30th during the regularly scheduled class time.
